Gissing is a small rural village deep in the countryside of South Norfolk, approximately four miles from Diss. Tucked away at its heart are a cluster of characterful buildings bordering an open grassy space which, it is hoped, will soon be recognised as the official village green. There is St Mary's Church with its fine round tower dating from at least the 12th century, the Crown, a popular, traditional village pub and a Victorian primary school building.

Thanks to a £711,365 grant from the Big Lottery, Gissing now has a stunning, purpose-designed Community Building  in which to hold a wide range of village activities and events and which is also available for individual hire. The bid for the grant was put together by The Heart of Gissing, a charity dedicated to maintaining and developing this central area as a lively and vibrant centre for the village.
